GATES.
We know why the gate at your business isn’t opening, won’t align, refuses to close. We even know how to custom fabricate a new gate and create a system to automate it.
R&S San Francisco has been the go-to commercial gate experts for San Francisco businesses.
We’d love the opportunity to show you why.

GATE INSTALLATION
PEDESTRIAN GATES
No matter what entry point they serve, pedestrian gates provide the security your business needs while still being aesthetically pleasing.
R&S San Francisco installs and repairs pedestrian gates as well as sells the necessary hardware to ensure they are working properly.
We can create a design to match any style and powder coat our steel gates to ensure they are durable.
AUTOMATIC GATE SAFETY STANDARDS
UL Solutions, a third-party testing laboratories company, creates product recommendations to promote public safety. UL 325 along with ASTM R2200, which are recommendations from another independent testing company, form the blueprint for automatic gate system safety recommendations.
Those standards were created to protect you as a consumer, and manufacturer recommendations for any new automatic gate operator follow them. Adhering to UL 325 & ASTM R2200 recommendations not only makes your automatic gate system more safe, it reduces your liability as a property owner if injury or damage were to occur.
R&S San Francisco will strongly recommend different options to ensure your gate system is safe and adhering to industry safety standards.

Requirements differ for different classes of gate classes (from single family residential to guarded industrial) and intended movement (sliding versus swing), but generally protection criteria includes:
• Inherent entrapment protection system that stops and reverses the gate within 2 seconds.
• A non-contact photoelectric sensor or the equivalent that stops or reverses the gate within 2 seconds.
• A contact sensor (edge device or the equivalent) that stops and reverses the gate within 2 seconds.
• An inherent adjustable clutch or pressure relief device that, upon sensing an obstruction in any direction, will stop the gate and not result in a closing force more than 10 percent higher than the initial setting required to stop the gate, which cannot exceed 40 lbs.
• An actuating device requiring continuous pressure to maintain opening or closing motion of the gate. Upon removal of pressure, movement of the gate must cease.
• An audio alarm.
